Stroll through the Cemetery
Before you leave home, print the Glendale Cemetery Quest and grab a pencil. Head out for the festivities around mid-afternoon. Your first gig begins just inside the main gate of Glendale Cemetery. Park along the drive near the chapel.
While completing your Quest, learn about famous dead Akronites such as F. A. Seiberling, co-founder of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, and John R. Buchtel, founder of Buchtel College (later reincarnated as The University of Akron). You’ll need that pencil to solve the puzzle and find the hidden quest box. Make up an amusing team name to sign into the logbook. Sling back down the path to the main gate after you put this Quest to rest.
Grab a Bite ... to Eat
By now, you've probably worked up an undying appetite. When it's tomb much to handle, drive into downtown Akron and grab dinner at one of the many great local restaurants. Check out Downtown Akron Partnership for more recommendations. Pick up dessert at Chill Artisan Ice Cream to really put the "chill" in your adventure.
Take a Twilight Walk
Take your ice cream outside and walk along Main Street, down to banks of the Ohio & Erie Canal as it snakes along Locks 2, 3, and 4. Before heading out for your adventure, consider picking up a copy of Haunted Akron to get an idea of what ghostly beings you could be walking with.
The cemetery closes at 5 p.m., so don’t end up on the wrong side of Death’s Door. Allow yourself a little over an hour to prowl around, following the quest’s rhyming clues.
